Main Purpose of the Role:
Assist and back up the Line Manager in implementing, monitoring, and optimizing constantly the profitability and performance of the lines.
Acting Line Manager during absence: If the LM is out due to PTO, travel or any other reason, the ALM is to act as interim Line Manager during his/her absence ensuring that all actions/approvals are being attended to, specifics will be discussed and handed over by the LM before departure.
Main Tasks:
- Support the Line Manager in ensuring the budgeted volumes, revenues, costs and bottom-line profitability are met by closely monitoring the performance of each line and leading the required actions with Trade and Countries.
- Monitor, control and continuously improve the volume performance, profitability and cargomix of the counter dominant legs for each line under your scope.
- Monitor current country performance and present forward-looking actions to improve country/line performance, these actions should always be related to the current direction setting. LA should challenge direction setting (with supporting data) and provide other ways to improve the results
- Lead the benchmarking exercise with the countries/districts in order to capture current market conditions and ensure our pricing policy is in line with our strategy and the market itself.
- Lead and coordinate together with Trade team so that our guidelines and tariffs are updated based on the benchmark information and that the revised figures are shared with the relevant countries and districts.
- Work with Trade to ensure POL and Customers are performing on a weekly basis based on their allocations/targets.
- HIVE Management (Allocations, space protections and others).
- Work together with Lead Line Analyst and Trade to ensure proper follow up is being given to current tenders and awards once received.
- On-going monitoring of line performance, identify exceptions / areas of improvement and implement action plans under line manager’s guidance.
- Deal with relevant system approval / set up to ensure functionality of the line, e.g. route activation, tariff approval, inland tariff approval,
- Assist to monitor line operations, follow up on vessel schedules and alert line manager in case of possible deviation
- Work together with Line Manager on new line studies and projects.
- Provide ideas for performance improvement with data analysis and prepare conclusions.
- Manage ad-hoc line’s projects.
- Lead, coordinate and participate on country meetings as required by the Line Manager.
- Work closely with Trade Managers and Cargo flow to ensure allocations are optimized and protected for each country.
- Work together with LM on operational contingencies in order to define customer driven solutions for contingencies while also protecting our profitability and cost exposure. Also, to ensure proper communication is sent to Countries and District when we have contingencies.

Three (3) years of experience in relevant trades.
Proficiency Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Proven work experience in a matrix organization and multi-cultural environment
3-5 years’ experience in commercial shipping activity in trade functions or pricing is highly preferred.
Proficient in both English and Spanish (written, spoken)
